blue mama blues band

Here We Are

We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to PlasticMeltdown Records’ artists Blue Mama, one of Southern California’s leading blues/roots/rock bands. Blue Mama has created an established fan base and released their first critically acclaimed CD, Saturday Night Suburbia, in 1997, and their second, Pacific Street, in 2001. They have also played many of the major venues and events in Orange County including Boosters, Bootleggers, the Capo Beach Bar & Grill, China Beach, the Coach House, Coconuts, Cook’s Corner, CJs, the Dana Point Whale Festival, various Diedrich’s Coffee houses, the Doheny Blues Festival, Doheny Days, the Gypsy Den, the International Chili Cookoff in Irvine, the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, Laguna Beach’s the Renaissance Café, the Lake Mission Viejo Jazz Festival, the San Clemente Rib Trader, the San Clemente Fiesta Street Fair, the San Clemente Summer Beach Concert Series, the St. Andrews by-the-Sea United Methodist Church Summer Concert series, Sundance Bar and Grill, the Swallows Inn, Tortilla Flats, and of course, many more.

Blue Mama plays both blues and rock ‘n roll with calculated abandon. Whether ripping through an electrifying blues or performing an acoustic ballad, they exhibit great chops and a somewhat twisted sense of humor. Saturday Night Suburbia and Pacific Street have received rave reviews in many international publications. All are featured at Blue Mama’s website at www.bluemama.com

In live performance Blue Mama serves up a tasty blend of original songs, plus blues and rock standards. All members vocalize, and the band features Phil Hawkins on drums, Tim Horrigan on keyboards, Joe Lehr on lead guitar, Marty “Cadillac” McPhee on harmonica, Dennis Roger Reed on guitar, and Steve Zoerner on bass.

Blue Mama is noted for high energy shows, and the band has shared the stage with artists such as Blue Rodeo, Dave Davies, Bo Diddley, John Hammond, B.B. King, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, Little Richard, Mick Taylor, and Joe Louis Walker. Blue Mama is equally adept at proving a smaller, acoustic ensemble or rockin’ hard with the electric 6 piece.
